11 Plus Exam Pass Mark and Target Score

The pass mark for each year is decided after the tests have been marked.
The topics have the following weighting: 50% English and verbal reasoning; 25% maths and 25% non-verbal reasoning.

Other Exam information

All questions are multiple choice.
Students will sit two papers, each lasting 45 minutes.
One paper includes comprehension, technical English and verbal reasoning.
The other includes non-verbal reasoning, spatial reasoning and maths.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Dr Challoner's Grammar School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

Boys who are looked after children or previously looked after children.
Boys living in the catchment area of the school and who qualify for Pupil Premium.
Siblings of students in Years 7 to 12 living in the catchment area of the school.
Qualified sons of staff.
Boys living in the catchment area of the school in order of straight line distance from the school.
Siblings of students in Years 7 to 12 living outside the catchment area of the school in order of straight line distance from the school.
Any further places will be offered in distance order using straight line distance between the family’s normal home address and the main entrance to the school on Chesham Rd.
