King Edward VI Grammar School – 11 Plus Admissions

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to King Edward VI Grammar School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Is King Edward VI Grammar School part of a Consortium?

King Edward VI Grammar School is part of the Lincolnshire Consortium of Grammar Schools.

Does King Edward VI Grammar School have a catchment area?

King Edward VI Grammar School does have a catchment area, which is based on distance from the school. However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

The school also has feeder primary schools. These are:

Binbrook, Donington on Bain, East Ravendale, Fulstow Community, Grainthorpe, Grimoldby, Holton le Clay, Legbourne East Wold, Kidgate, Lacey Gardens, Legsby, St Michael’s Church of England Louth, Market Rasen, Marshchapel, Middle Rasen, North Cockerington, North Cotes, North Somercotes, North Thoresby, Saltfleetby, Scamblesby, Tealby, Tetney, Theddlethorpe, Utterby and Wragby.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. Looked after children and all previously looked after children.

  2. Siblings of children who will still be attending King Edward VI when the child is due to start.

  3. Twins who have both passed the test for the same year of entry.

  4. Eligible children in Year 6 who live within the traditional catchment area or are attending one of the named feeder primary schools. If there is oversubscription within this category, applicants who have passed the test will be ranked according to their test scores.

  5. If there are insufficient suitably qualified applicants from the above then suitably qualified applicants will be admitted: these candidates will be ranked according to their test scores.
