How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to St Clement Danes School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

St Clement Danes School is part of the South West Herts Consortium which consists of Croxley Danes, Parmiter’s School, Queens’ School, Rickmansworth School, St Clement Danes School, Watford Grammar School for Boys and Watford Grammar School for Girls.

Does St Clement Danes School have a catchment area?

St Clement Danes School has a catchment area which gives priority on location and distance from the school. Priority is given to WD3 postcodes.

However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. Looked after children and previously looked after children.

  2. Children with a sibling already at the school.

  3. Children of staff at the school.

  4. Up to 10% of places will be for students demonstrating musical aptitude as determined by test during the autumn term. 

  5. Up to 10% of places will be for students demonstrating academic ability in the 11+ exams.

  6. Distance places will be allocated on the basis of proximity to the school, with priority given to WD3 postcodes only. 

  7.  Any remaining places will be allocated on the basis of proximity to the school, outside the WD3 postcode area.
