How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Torquay Boys’ Grammar School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Torquay Boys’ Grammar School is part of the Torbay Grammar Schools, which is made up of Churston Ferrers Grammar School, Torquay Boys’ Grammar School, Torquay Girls’ Grammar School and The Spires College.

Does Torquay Boys’ Grammar School have a catchment area?

Torquay Boys’ Grammar School does not have a catchment area however straight-line distance from home to school is used in a tie-break situation. Entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

Looked after children or children who were previously looked after.
Children who qualify for Pupil Premium.
All other qualifying children in order of distance from the school.
