How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Watford Grammar School for Girls?
Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.
You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Watford Grammar School for Girls has a catchment area which is split into the Watford area and the rest of the admission area. However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.
How Does Place Allocation Work?
Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
10% of spaces will be allocated to girls selected on the basis of aptitude for music as measured by the school's assessment procedures, in merit order.
25% of spaces will be allocated to girls selected by academic ability as measured by the school’s assessment procedures, in merit order.
Looked after children and children who were previously looked after.
Girls whose normal home address is nearest to the school and who would not be allocated a place under any other criterion (up to 10% of spaces).
Girls with a parent who is a permanent member of the school staff.
Girls with a sibling enrolled at the school.
Girls with a sibling enrolled at Watford Grammar School for Boys.
Places will then be allocated to girls in increasing distance order using straight line distance between the boy’s normal home address and the school.
