Westlands School – 11 Plus Admissions
How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Westlands School?
Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.
You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.
Is Westlands School part of a Consortium?
Westlands School is not part of an 11 Plus consortium.
Does Westlands School have a catchment area?
Westlands School does have a catchment area, which is based on distance from the school.
First priority is given to pupils in Year 6 at feeder schools Westlands Primary School and Regis Manor Primary School.
Then children living in the local parishes of Bobbing, Borden, Bredgar, Hartlip, Iwade, Lower Halstow, Newington, Stockbury, Tunstall and Upchurch.
Finally, nearness of children’s homes to school is used (measured in a straight line).
How Does Place Allocation Work?
Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
Children in Local Authority Care or Previously in Local Authority Care.
Children with medical, health, social and special access reasons in accordance with the school’s legal obligations, in particular those under the Equality Act 2010.
29 places will then be offered to children who score highest on the school’s test of aptitude in mathematics. Places offered under this criterion will not exceed 10% of the school’s planned admission number. Places will only be offered under this criterion if the parent has expressed a preference on the “Common Application Form” for Westlands School.
Children with a brother or sister attending the school when the child starts.
Pupils in Year 6 at Westlands Primary School and Regis Manor Primary School.
Children living in the parishes of Bobbing, Borden, Bredgar, Hartlip, Iwade, Lower Halstow, Newington, Stockbury, Tunstall, Upchurch.
