Type of school — Girls’ grammar school

Cost — Free

Pupils in school — 1300+

Places available in year 7 —  200+

Average applicants per place — Unknown but only around 30% of applicants pass the exam.

Catchment area —  Wycombe High School does have a catchment area.

Enter your postcode into Buckinghamshire Council's catchment area checker here.

Oversubscription policy - Candidates will only be considered eligible for admission if they meet the required qualifying score of 121 in the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test (STT).

Girls who qualify and have an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school will be admitted prior to the application of these admission rules.

Where qualifying applications for admission exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. A ‘looked after child’ or previously looked after child.

  2. Qualified disadvantaged girls whose normal home address is in the catchment area of the school (up to a maximum of 12 places for Year 7 girls).

  3. Girls whose normal home address is in the catchment area of the school.

  4. Younger sisters of current students in Years 7 to 12 at the point of allocation and who will still be on the roll of the school at the time of the proposed admission.

  5. Other qualified disadvantaged girls whose normal home address is in the catchment area of the school.

  6. 7. Younger sisters of current students in Years 7 to 12 at other secondary schools in the Wycombe High School Academies Trust as shown on the school’s website www.whs.bucks.sch.uk who will be on the roll of their school at the time of the proposed admission.

  8. Other qualified disadvantaged girls

  9. Once the above rules have been applied, any further places will be offered in distance order, using the distance between the girl’s normal home address and the school’s nearest open entrance gate, offering the closest first.

Where two or more applicants have a home address at the same distance from the school and it is necessary to decide which child will be admitted, random allocation will be used. The random allocation process will be independently supervised.
