  • The pass mark for each year is decided by the school after the tests have been marked.

  • The standard pass-mark is normally between 70% and 74% (depending on the number and quality of applicants).

Other Exam information

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Bishop Wordsworth's School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. A ‘looked after child’ or a ‘previously looked after child.

  2. Applicants who, at the time of the entry exam, meet the eligibility criteria to claim for free school meals currently or in any of the previous six years and who therefore qualify for Pupil Premium.

  3. Applicants whose permanent home is in the school’s designated area at the time of application or who have evidence that they will be permanently relocated to live in the designated area. 

  4. Applicants who will reside with a brother or sister already at the school at the time of admission.

  5. Applicants who, at the time at which the application for admission is made, reside with at least one parent or step-parent who is a contracted member of staff at the School and has been so for at least two years.

  6. Applicants who, at the time of the exam, have been recorded as qualifying for the Service Premium in their school or who have been a Service Child in any of the previous three years or who are in receipt of a child pension from the Ministry of Defence under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) and the War Pension Scheme (WPS).

  7. Other applicants who have met the entry requirements.
