How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Ermysted's Grammar School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Ermysted's Grammar School is not part of an 11 Plus consortium.

Does Ermysted's Grammar School have a catchment area?

Ermysted's Grammar School does have a catchment area which consists of Beamsley, Bradley, Burnsall, Carleton, Cracoe, Embsay, Gargrave, Grassington, Kettlewell, Kirkby-in-Malhamdale, Skipton, Thornton-in-Craven and Threshfield. However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. Children who have achieved the required standard and who are a looked after child or who was previously looked after

  2. To children who have achieved the required standard and whose home address lies within the catchment area at the time of application.

  3. Other children who have achieved the required standard.
