The pass mark for each year is decided after the tests have been marked.
The weightings are 50% for English and verbal reasoning, 25% for non-verbal reasoning and 25% for mathematics.
Other Exam information
All questions are multiple choice.
Students will sit two papers, each lasting 50–60 minutes.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Newport Girls' High School?
Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.
You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

How Does Place Allocation Work?
Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
Looked after children who scored no less than 95% of the qualifying score.
Up to 15 girls who receive pupil premium support, attend a feeder school and scored no less than 95% of the qualifying score, in rank order.
Children that live within the school’s catchment area.
All other candidates.
