The pass mark for each year is decided after the tests have been marked.
The Medway Tests are designed to assess and select the top 26% of the children in the year group to go to a grammar school.
Other Exam information
Students will sit three 50-minute exams.
All tests are multiple-choice with a separate answer sheet.
The Medway Test is sat by children in year 6 at their own school if they go to a Medway school or in a Medway Test Centre if they go to schools outside of Medway.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to The Rochester Grammar School?
Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.
You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

The Rochester Grammar School uses the Medway Test alongside other grammar schools in Medway.
Does The Rochester Grammar School have a catchment area?
The Rochester Grammar School does have a catchment area, which is based on distance from the school. However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.
How Does Place Allocation Work?
Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
Children in Local Authority Care or Previously in Local Authority Care.
Pupils eligible for pupil premium funding.
Children with a sibling at the school at the time of application or who will be still attending when the applicant is admitted.
Children who attend any of the following Thinking Schools Academy Trust’s Medway primary schools: New Horizons Children’s Academy, The Gordon Children’s Academy, All Faiths Children’s Academy and Cedars Children’s Academy.
Children of staff at the school (where the member of staff has been employed for three years or more at the time at which the application for admission to the Academy is made and/or where the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage).
Child’s health reasons, supported by medical evidence, which requires the child to attend this school.
Nearness of the children’s homes to the school. Distance will be based on the shortest distance from home to school.
