Chatham Grammar – 11 Plus Admissions

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Chatham Grammar?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Is Chatham Grammar part of a Consortium?

Chatham Grammar uses the Medway Test alongside other grammar schools in Medway.

Does Chatham Grammar have a catchment area?

Chatham Grammar does have a catchment area, which is based on distance from the school. However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. Children in Local Authority Care or Previously in Local Authority Care.

  2. Children with a sibling at any UKAT academy at the time of application or who will be still attending when the applicant is admitted.

  3. Children, assessed as selective, of staff at any UKAT academy (where the member of staff has been employed for one year or more at the time at which the application for admission to the Academy is made and/or where the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage).

  4.  Distance from the student’s home as determined using Medway Local Authority measure.
