Fort Pitt Grammar School – 11 Plus Admissions

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Fort Pitt Grammar School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Is Fort Pitt Grammar School part of a Consortium?

Fort Pitt Grammar School uses the Medway Test alongside other grammar schools in Medway.

Does Fort Pitt Grammar School have a catchment area?

Fort Pitt Grammar School does have a catchment area, which is based on distance from the school. Girls residing within 2 miles of the school will be prioritised first, followed by girls residing in the following local parishes:

Allhallows, Cliffe and Cliffe Woods, Cooling, Cuxton, Frindsbury Extra (includes Wainscott and Upnor), Halling, High Halstow, Hoo St Werburgh (includes Chattenden), St James, Isle of Grain, St Mary Hoo and Stoke.

However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. Children in Local Authority Care or Previously in Local Authority Care.

  2. Children with a sibling at the school at the time of application or who will be still attending when the applicant is admitted.

  3. Children attending Fort Pitt Thomas Aveling (FPTA) Junior Academies (namely, Balfour Junior Academy and Phoenix Junior Academy).

  4. Children of staff at the school (where the member of staff has been employed for three years or more at the time at which the application for admission to the Academy is made and/or where the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage).

  5. Children residing within 2 miles of the school.

  6. Children residing in one of the named parishes above.

  7. All other eligible girls seeking a school place.
