Reading Girls' School – 11 Plus Admissions

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Reading School?

Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.

You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Is Reading School part of a Consortium?

Reading Girls’ School is not part of any consortium of schools and runs its own 11 Plus exams.

Does Reading School have a catchment area?

Reading Girls’ School does have a catchment area. Girls living nearest the school are given priority, as measured in a straight line from the school to the home address.

How Does Place Allocation Work?

Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:

  1. Children in care or who have been in care.

  2. Up to 42 places selected by ability assessed by means of the selection tests and ranked according to the results of the tests.

  3. Girls who have strong medical or social grounds for admission.

  4. Girls who have a sibling who currently attends the school.

  5. Children of staff at the school.

  6. Children who attend the feeder schools Battle Primary Academy.

  7. Girls living nearest the school being accorded priority, as measured in a straight line from the school to the home address. Distance is measured on the straight line between Ordnance Survey data points for the home address and the school using Reading Borough Council’s digital mapping software.
