The pass mark for each year is decided after the tests have been marked.
The overall score of the two papers will have a 50:50 weighting.
Other Exam information
Students will sit two papers, each lasting around 60 minutes.
One paper will consist of English comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, creative/extended writing, and verbal reasoning.
The other paper will consist of questions consistent with KS2 National curriculum for mathematics and non-verbal reasoning

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Southend High School for Boys?
Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.
You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

How Does Place Allocation Work?
Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
Looked after children and previously looked after children who have passed the selection tests.
Children whose normal/habitual place of residence lies within the priority area subject to their passing the selection tests.
Children whose normal/habitual place of residence lies outside the priority area subject to their passing the selection tests (in rank order).
